Hobart Fun Run

About Us

Since its inception in 1992 the Hobart Fun Run has raised over $195,000 for the Royal Hobart Hospital Paediatrics Unit.

Thanks in no small part to the dedication of the Hobart Fun Run race director Pete ‘Crackers’ Keenan and supported by our very generous benefactor, Hobart Budget Rent a Car. The popularity of the race continues to grow each year with more participants getting out for a brisk run on that first Sunday in September. At the same time promoting the benefits of an active lifestyle while raising awareness and much needed funds for the Paediatrics Unit.
Pete’s daughter was a patient of the Paediatrics Unit for nearly 2 years. First hand he witnessed the devotion of the staff to helping sick kids recover. Naturally, Pete wanted to give something back therefore all proceedings (after running costs) are given to the Paediatrics Unit in support of their commitment to the health and well being of our kids. It has been wonderful to see former patients of the Paediatrics Unit and their parents, return annually to participate in the Fun Run.
Obviously the gratitude they feel is enormous and the event has a special connection with them. So why not become a part of it too? The Hobart Fun Run is the only Fun Run with a route along Hobart’s picturesque waterfront. You can choose either 2.5km or 5km distances with the option to run or walk. Prams and wheelchairs are also welcome and we extend a very warm welcome to those in our community with special needs.

The most important thing is to participate and have fun.

The Hobart Fun Run is a tribute to the memory of
